PA Together is working with Keystone Counts on the 2020 census. Pennsylvania is in danger of loosing many million of dollars in federal aid, plus at least one congressional house representative after the 2020 census. Further, with redistricting of such importance right now, we need to make sure hard-to-count populations, which also are mostly low-income immigrant communities or communities of color, are fully counted so that they can get fair representation in government.
Keystone Counts (an initiative of PA Voice) has identified target municipalities and counties that have large numbers of “hard-to-count” people. Our coalition has taken on the task of getting as many of these targets to enroll in the LUCA program – a government program that helps municipalities update their list of residential addresses so that as many people as possible receive census questionnaires.
Centre County has two of these target municipalities — Ferguson and Lemont.
PA Together needs help calling the county manager and the administrations for these target and find out if they are enrolling in LUCA. We are trying to reach as many targets as possible well before that deadline, so that we can apply constituent pressure where necessary, and assistance where helpful.
