Welcome to the Centre County Civic Action Network!
We are a network of volunteers, activists, and neighbors in Centre County, Pennsylvania. The goal of the CAN is to coordinate efforts and share information between the many special interest groups and political initiatives in the region.
The Network is not designed to tell specific groups what to do, but to act as a platform to help them reach a bigger audience and to get help when they need it. Any groups in the network should respect our core values:
- We value respectful conversation with people whose views are different than our own.
- We support the right, and the need, for individuals to be informed and engaged in their community.
- We value the dignity and rights of all people, regardless of ability, age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, health or socioeconomic status.
- We demand accountable leadership.
What we do
The Civic Action Network operates this website as a public “bulletin board” for anyone interested in promoting or learning about what’s happening in Centre county. Recent events have left many people looking for ways to get involved; this website aims to help make that happen.
Centre CAN also has a Slack group available for participating groups to use for organization purposes—this is a great place for sharing information, asking for help, and getting in touch with other activists in Centre county. The Slack group is invite only, and any new groups joining the Network should make sure that someone from their group is represented in Slack.
